This was an empty tired shop unit that required a complete make-over for an ambitious bespoke shoe company who wanted an outlet in central London to showcase its’ wares. The brief was to create something new and vibrant to prevent the shop from becoming yet another traditional outlet unit with floor to ceiling shoe boxes.
The shop was completely striped out and a new folded metal cantilevered staircase was inserted, which was clad in leather. Glass balustrades opened up the space and prevented the shop feeling cramped. All the furniture and fittings were created specifically for the shop using various finishes to evoke the different textures of the shoes. Mirrors were inserted where possible to again enlarge the feeling of space and to allow the customers maximum views when trying on the shoes. Shots of bright colours were given to the bespoke clad chairs to contrast against the rest of the muted colour scheme elsewhere. The unit has since changed hands but the spirit of the shop created has been maintained by the new owner and the units modified to deal with the requirements of a bespoke tailoring company who happen to also sell the handmade shoes.
